Sticker Shock

This most recent vet visit was about a week and a half ago and was the most money I've ever spent at one time. My dog got an echocardiogram which costed $700. then the doctor came and spoke to me and said that her heart was enlarged, but she did not have pulmonary hypertension. The other thing he said was that her cough was not related to any of her heartworm issues, so this was a different issue. He asked if he could run some bloodwork, but I had no idea what the cost was. I decided to go ahead with it and that costing me about $300. The final total was a little over $1000. At this point I am still waiting to hear back from insurance if I can get the cost of the appointment covered. However, when the blood work came back, we found out that she just had some severe allergies. I went from being very scared that my dog might possibly die soon to knowing that it was a quick fix and worth it to get checked out. I'm hoping to make more entries with updates about the current insurance situation. For now, these are all of the vet visits she has had that I have had to pay for.
